Wednesday

We decided to take a little trip before the big storm came in.

We drove over to Winona, a small town on the east edge of Minnesota.  This is where Wenohna Canoe and Kayaks are made.  Grandma and Grandpa had some questions for them.

They had Hibiscus flowers blooming in there. What a site for sore eyes.

Guess who is learning how to take pictures????

This is one of his shots.

Then the snow storm hit. Mike shoveled and Matthew did what all snow loving kids do during a storm.  He snowboarded.

I love this shot so much! One of my favorites ever.  He even has snow in his eyelashes:-)

My camera fogged up when we came in but this shot is so Matthew.  I just love it.

Grandma and Grandpa bought Matthew this awesome pirate puzzle set from an art museum in Winona.

Then we played the wii...  Love hearing everyone laugh as we figure out bowling.

Having a great time!

#1 of our Christmas visit

Grandma and Grandpa made it here on Tuesday night.  Right before all the big storms hit.  I was out Matthew when they stopped by.  They left us a clue that they were here in town.

Stay tuned for our Wednesday pictures...

Matthew's class

I volunteered to run a blog for Matthew's class this year.  It has been a blast taking pictures and posting them for all the parents.  If any of you want to see what he has been up here is a link to it.  I have been blessed to be able to photograph every event.

The new barbie

Introducing Minnesota barbie!
She comes with a snuggie and snow shovel...and a pasty white skin tone.

Okay...I promise this is my last post of the day.  What else can you do when you are trapped inside.

One more perspective on the snow

Poor Ports...there is a reason most of his breed lives in the south.  He is a fair weather dog.  He hates the snow.  This was what he was doing while Charlie played in the snow. I wish I could have got Charlie playing outside in the background.  I think Portis wonders if the stork dropped him at the wrong house.

our family set a "drift"

Well it turns out that there are a few members of the family that love the snow(I am not one of them)

One of Charlie's favorite things to do is chase snowballs.  Even if they are on the other side of a really tall drift.

Did he make it????

Now it is time to come back...

On the count of three...1...2...

3!!

This picture is really the perfect essence of Minnesota...

Mike is once again out shoveling...same storm...third time shoveling.  I offered to pay the neighbor kids to shovel.  Mike was horrified....that I did not offer them enough.
Side note:  Take a close look at the neighbors van behind Mike.  Can you believe how buried it is!

In Minnesota a "snow day" really is a SNOW day

Yesterday a stom hit us. Matthew had an early out at school with an pretty much expected snow day scheduled for today.  Sure enough we got the call last night that school was cancelled for today.  Woke up this morning to see that all the inches of snow had blown all night and drifted us in. There was a 4 foot high drift on the deck(pretty much the whole deck) and the dogs could not get outside.  Matthew, being the best brother in the world set out to fee them.

I'm coming Charlie...hold on!

He finally made it to the door. Charlie was very thankful!

Don't you just love finding old photo cds

I was looking for some of Mike's music cds tonight and I came across a cd labeled "Matthew May 2003" I could not wait to see them.  I miss his chubby little cheeks.  These pictures are all taken by grandma and grandpa.  I love this last picture of Cheryl and Matthew.  I think it is one of my favorite pictures of the two of them ever.

Meet the Heinz Family

I meet my friend Lisa from Matthew's kindergarten class.  Brayton was in the class with Matthew and I instantly loved Lisa.  If I had to describe her in one word it would be "real".  I love her! I love that she loves working with her husband Chris everyday.  I love that she laughs a lot at herself.  I love that she is such a good mom.  Now Chris on the other hand is a UNC fan so I can't say anything nice about him or Mike will disown me.  Actually. that is not true.  Mike really likes Chris...despite this one major flaw.  We really do need to get together for dinner again soon.

These are a few of my favorite shots from a family shoot I did for them a few weeks ago. I had a blast and I can't wait to do some winter shots now.

Pretty cute family, don't you think!

Brayton and Taite were so great.  They asked me tons of questions and they helped with everything they could.  They are both really really good kids.  I hope I can give them some photography lessons soon.

Let the countdown begin

We have started our count down to Christmas... The tree is up, the lights are on and the advent tree is filled.  Jenny and I have the same tree and we go every year and buy things to fill it with.  It has become a tradition in itself.

Remember that class I took a few weeks ago about Christmas?  Well the cards officially started today for it.  The photography assignment was to take a "Welcome to December" picture of everyone in the family...well here are two of them.

JENNY!!! Stop laughing, Portis is a part of our family and he likes to take naps by the glow of the tree...at least he has not peed on it like he did the first year we had him.  I think he thought it was the best day of his life.  It was indoor plumbing:-)

What could this be peeking out of the advent tree????

More to come! I still have to introduce you to my new baby!! I think I know just the way to do it too.
