I ❤ Saturday mornings

So I bought that cookbook I mentioned a few posts back. I just loved the stories behind the recipes. I have a thing for anything passed down from one generation to the next and grandma's favorite recipes. I have actually made a few things now and so far we love everything.
This morning I made "Love You" pancakes for Matthew. He honestly giggled and blushed over the name. I told him that you could only make them for someone you loved:-)
These pancakes have an almost crepe like texture and they are fantastic!
sorry for my less than amazing pictures..but taking on the fly pics in a dark kitchen lead to this.
So I just have to share a few more favorites as of late. The first is this Vanilla Bean Paste. I heard it mentioned on another cooking blog that I love forever ago and I have been looking for it ever since. I finally found it!!! It was sooooo worth the wait. It is incredible.
It is basically extruded vanilla bean. It looks like this when it comes out. When you add it to things like FROSTING!! you can see the bean flakes and the taste is so much more intense. I think it is a must have for every kitchen.
I also want to tell you about another love we use in our house. I started buying this stuff years ago when it first came out and they had a blueberry one too. They dropped my beloved blueberry but the strawberry has stuck around. It is actually a yogurt spread so it is better for you than butter or yucky margarine. Matthew and I LOVE the taste and it was simply made for "Love You" pancakes!
Lastly, I just wanted to share my new herb garden with you. I love fresh herbs and I finally decided to start a window garden since it will be portable.

Now if I only did not wake up to snow on the ground....UG!
Happy Saturday
